Quick Start
Ready to visit? Here's your immediate action.
- Best time: Sundays or Karkidakam month (July–Aug)
- Contact the Mana administration in advance — Sarpa Bali requires booking
- Offer: Fresh milk + turmeric paste (manjal) at the Nagaraja image
- 11 days before: "Om Namo Bhagavate Nagarajaya" 108 times daily
Step by step
Complete Protocol
7 steps · follow in sequence at the temple
Step 1
Clarify what breakthrough you are seeking
Before beginning the practice, write a clear statement of your career situation: where you are, where you want to be, and what specifically is blocked. Nagaraja's blessing operates on clarity — vague intention produces vague results.
Step 2
Begin the Sarpa Stotra practice
For 11 days before the visit, recite the Sarpa Sukta from the Atharva Veda, or the simpler "Om Namo Bhagavate Nagarajaya" (108 times daily). Nagaraja (the serpent king) in the Kerala tradition is associated with wisdom, accumulated karma, and blocked ancestral energy — which often manifests as career obstacles.
Step 3
Visit on a Sunday or during the Malayalam month of Karkidakam
Pambummekkattu Mana in Mala, Thrissur district, is a traditional Kerala Nagakshetram (serpent shrine). The most auspicious times are Sundays and the Malayalam month of Karkidakam (July–August). The Sarpa Bali (serpent propitiation ritual) is performed specially during this period.
Step 4
Perform the Sarpa Bali ritual
The Sarpa Bali is the primary ritual at this shrine for removing career and prosperity obstacles. Book it in advance through the Mana (family) administration. During the ritual, the priest performs offerings on your behalf while you observe in focused prayer.
Step 5
Offer milk and turmeric paste to the serpent image
Offer fresh milk and turmeric paste (manjal) to the Nagaraja image. These are the two traditional offerings in Kerala serpent worship. Pour the milk slowly and without bargaining language.
Step 6
Request the ancestral karma clearing
At this shrine specifically, career obstacles are frequently traced to ancestral karma (pitru dosha or sarpa dosha from previous generations). State clearly in your prayer: "I request the clearing of any ancestral obstacle that is affecting my professional life."
Step 7
Post-visit: Sunday milk offering for 12 weeks
For 12 Sundays after the visit, offer a small cup of milk at any Naga shrine or even at a peepal or tulsi plant near your home (in the absence of a Naga shrine). Recite the career intention you wrote in step 1 during each offering.

Common questions
FAQ
Pambummekkattu Mana is a traditional family-administered shrine (not a formal temple with broad public access). Protocol for visitors differs from typical temples. The guide provides specific contact and access information.
Sarpa dosha (also called Naga dosha) refers to an affliction in the horoscope — typically Rahu or Ketu in specific positions — that is believed to carry the accumulated karma of disrespect or harm to serpents in past lives. In the tradition, this manifests as: blocked promotions, difficult colleagues, sudden reversals despite good work, and persistent professional frustration.

★★★★☆
"I followed the Nagaraja protocol at Mannarasala. Four months later I received an offer I had been working toward for two years. Coincidence is possible. But I also believe what the tradition says about ancestral karma."
