Questions answered

Frequently asked

Am I definitely Manglik if Mars is in those houses?
Not automatically. The severity depends on Mars's strength, aspects, and conjunctions. Mars in the 7th house with Jupiter's aspect is significantly milder than Mars alone in the 7th. Mars in the 12th house cancels for many people if certain other conditions are met. Get a detailed assessment from a qualified Jyotisha before assuming maximum severity.
Does double Manglik — both partners being Manglik — cancel the dosha?
Yes, in most Jyotisha schools, if both partners have Kuja Dosha, the Mars energies balance each other and the dosha is considered neutralized for marriage purposes. This is called "Manglik-Manglik" matching and is widely accepted. However, the house positions should be checked — Mars in the 7th house in one chart and Mars in the 12th in the other is generally accepted as a match, though some practitioners want exact house matching.
How many temple visits do I actually need?
6 consecutive Tuesdays for mild Kuja Dosha (1st, 2nd, or 12th house). 12 consecutive Tuesdays for severe Kuja Dosha (7th or 8th house). If travel makes weekly visits impossible, combine the temple visits with consistent daily home practice — the home practice between visits is not optional.
Is Kumbh Vivah compulsory before marriage?
No — it is prescribed only for specific cases, usually where Mars is in the 7th house with additional malefic aspects. Many qualified Jyotishis do not prescribe it at all, considering the temple remedy and Vrat sufficient. Do not perform Kumbh Vivah based on family or community pressure alone — confirm with your personal Jyotisha.
Can Kuja Dosha be fully cancelled?
The tradition does not use the word "cancelled" — it says "pacified" or "reduced to its minimum expression." The Mars energy remains in the chart but becomes constructive (courage, leadership, decisiveness) rather than destructive (aggression, accidents, partner harm). After 6 months of consistent practice, most people report that the specific problem (marriage proposals being rejected, recurring conflicts) resolves, even if Mars is still present in the chart.
What if I can't visit Thirumangalakudi? Are other temples valid?
Yes. Vaitheeswaran Koil (Angaraka Abhishekam, Tamil Nadu), Ujjain Mangalnath Temple (Madhya Pradesh), and consistent Hanuman temple visits on Tuesdays are all valid alternatives recognized in their respective regional traditions. The puja offerings and mantra are the same across all locations.
Should I avoid marriage during Mars retrograde?
Mars retrograde occurs approximately every 26 months and lasts 10–12 weeks. Traditional Jyotisha advises against beginning new ventures (including marriage proposals and wedding dates) during Mars retrograde. This is not specific to Kuja Dosha — it applies broadly. Check a current Panchangam or Jyotisha software for the next Mars retrograde window.
My child has Kuja Dosha — when should I start the remedy?
The temple remedy can begin at any age, but the Tuesday Vrat fast is typically not prescribed for children under 12. For children, the family performs the temple puja on the child's behalf, with the child present if possible. The daily Hanuman Chalisa recitation by a parent with the child is the standard home practice until the child is old enough to observe the full Vrat.
