Quick Start
Ready to visit? Here's your immediate action.
- Book only through official TTD — no agents, no informal promises
- Carry same ID used for booking; dress in traditional attire required
- At Srivari Hundi: offer an honest amount, mentally release scarcity and fear
- During darshan: one sentence only — "Guide my wealth toward dharma, stability, and service"
Step by step
Complete Protocol
7 steps · follow in sequence at the temple
Step 1
Begin with sankalpa and Govinda nama
Seven days before the visit, write the exact prosperity concern you are carrying: debt pressure, business instability, delayed income, or a vow made during difficulty. Each morning, chant "Om Namo Venkatesaya" 108 times and end with three repetitions of "Govinda, Govinda, Govinda." The practice prepares the mind for surrender rather than bargain-making.
Step 2
Book darshan only through TTD channels
Tirumala is a highly regulated pilgrimage center, so do not rely on agents or informal promises of darshan. Use the official TTD booking route for Special Entry Darshan, Sarva Darshan token information, accommodation, and available sevas. Carry the same ID used for booking, because mismatched names can interrupt the yatra.
Step 3
Arrive with traditional dress and simple offerings
Wear traditional clothing suitable for Tirumala: dhoti or pyjama with upper cloth for men, and saree, half-saree, or salwar-kameez with dupatta for women. Do not carry elaborate outside offerings into the queue; Tirumala worship is centered on darshan, surrender, and the official prasadam system. Keep a small sealed envelope or digital note stating the vow you are offering to Venkateswara.
Step 4
Make the hundi offering as release, not transaction
The Srivari Hundi is central to Tirupati prosperity tradition because devotees symbolically return a portion of wealth to the Lord before asking for more stability. Offer an amount that is honest for your situation, not an amount chosen to impress anyone. As you place it, mentally release fear, scarcity, and misuse of money, and ask for wealth that can be handled dharmically.
Step 5
Receive darshan with the debt of gratitude
During the few moments of darshan, avoid trying to recite a long list of requests. Hold one sentence only: "Sri Venkateswara, guide my wealth toward dharma, stability, and service." After darshan, receive laddu prasadam with both hands and sit quietly if space permits before returning to the outer flow.
Step 6
Complete tonsure or Anga Pradakshinam only if vowed
Tonsure at Kalyana Katta and Anga Pradakshinam are serious vow practices, not tourist experiences. Perform them only if you have already made that vow or if your family tradition prescribes it. If you do undertake either, keep the intention clean: ego surrender, repayment of grace, and humility before the Lord.
Step 7
Keep a 40-day Govinda prosperity discipline
For 40 days after the visit, chant "Om Namo Venkatesaya" 108 times daily and track every major expense with honesty. On each Saturday, set aside a small charity amount for food, education, or temple service before spending on personal comfort. This anchors the Tirumala blessing into disciplined prosperity rather than temporary emotion.

Common questions
FAQ
Yes, devotees approach Sri Venkateswara for many blessings, but the Tirumala tradition is especially associated with vow fulfillment, wealth stability, repayment of karmic obligations, and the disciplined use of money. The hundi offering expresses surrender of possessiveness and trust in divine provision.
Either is devotional if done sincerely. Special Entry Darshan gives a planned slot and is better for families, elders, or travelers with limited time. Sarva Darshan is free and powerful in its austerity, but waiting times can be long and token availability changes, so check current TTD information before travel.
