Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple (Golden Temple)

Deity Goddess Sri Lakshmi Narayani (Thippaswamy form — combined Vishnu-Lakshmi)

The Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple at Sripuram, Vellore — universally called the Golden Temple — is the largest pure-gold structure in the world. The entire vimanam (tower) and the path leading to the sanctum are plated with 1,500 kg of pure gold, installed at an estimated value of over Rs 300 crore. This is not ancient temple wealth accumulated over millennia — it is a deliberate, contemporary act of devotion by Narayani Amma (Sri Sakthi Amma), the founding spiritual leader. What makes it singularly powerful for wealth-seekers: the Goddess here, Sri Lakshmi Narayani, is the combined form of both Vishnu (the sustainer) and Lakshmi (the wealth-giver) — a form that addresses both the creation and the maintenance of wealth simultaneously. The 1.8 km star-shaped walkway through the complex, illuminated at night by the reflection of 100,000 lamps on the gold surface, creates the most visually extraordinary temple experience in contemporary India. For those seeking to establish a relationship with divine abundance — not emergency wealth but sustained, growing, righteous prosperity — this is the pre-eminent living temple in South India.

Ritual & Significance

Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple operates with a distinctly modern spiritual ethos — it welcomes all, regardless of religion, caste, or nationality. The Goddess here is worshipped in the Narayani form (the combined masculine-feminine divine) — emphasizing that true wealth is the product of both dynamic action (Vishnu-principle) and receptive grace (Lakshmi-principle). Neither alone is sufficient. The prescribed wealth ritual: visit on a Friday (Lakshmi's day) or on Akshaya Tritiya (the day the sun enters Taurus, considered the most auspicious day for wealth-related intentions in the entire year). The core puja is the Sri Suktam Abhishekam — performed with gold-colored saffron water and accompanied by the 16 Vedic verses of the Sri Suktam. For those establishing a new business or making a major investment: bring the relevant documents (company registration, investment certificate, property deed) and present them at the puja counter — the priest will hold them during the Sri Suktam recitation.
